Our Mission
Our mission is to empower and uplift the South Central Los Angeles community through the transformative power of arts, education, food sustainability, and service. We strive to cultivate an inclusive environment where residents can thrive, grow and realize their full potential, regardless of socioeconomic barriers. By fostering creativity, knowledge, and health, we aim to build a brighter future.
Our Founders
Writer and poet Ashley Renee, together with educator and community leader T. Green, founded Urban Uplift LA in July 2023.
Motivated by a shared vision for positive change, the two joined forces to expand on the community work T. Green had already begun. Their initiatives include a community baby shower, back-to-school drive, neighborhood cleanups, a children’s gardening program, a Christmas toy drive, and Little Vibe Friday open mic nights. In 2025, they also launched Therapy Thursday—a new mental health-focused program designed to support emotional wellness in the community.
